Daily Quote: Give Without a Thought of Getting

"Let us make Christmas real. It isn’t just tinsel and ribbon, unless we have made it so in our lives. Christmas is the spirit of giving without a thought of getting. It is happiness because we see joy in people. It is forgetting self and finding time for others. It is discarding the meaningless and stressing the true values. It is peace because we have found peace in the Savior’s teachings. It is the time we realize most deeply that the more love is expended, the more there is of it for others."

Young Women Auxiliary Training New Training for Class Presidencies

New Video Resources

Dear Priesthood and Young Women leaders:
We see tremendous and often untapped potential in Young Women class presidencies. Just like adult Young Women leaders, these youth leaders have been called of God and have had hands laid upon their head under the direction of those who hold priesthood keys. They have been given responsibilities to prepare, counsel, teach, minister, and lead.
As a general presidency, we are excited to share three new videos for use in training class presidency members. These videos capture the heart and joy of working with young women.
We invite you to consider this important topic in your next stake auxiliary leadership meeting. The new videos and resources can assist you as you:
  • Help young women realize the trust that comes with their calling and empower them to function fully in their responsibilities. (See Handbook 2, 10.3.5.)
  • Maintain high but loving expectations for youth in leadership positions.
  • Take time to learn and practice leadership principles and skills from the Class Presidency Leadership Lessons available online.
Our sincere thanks for your service and example to young women,
The Young Women General Presidency

First Presidency sends Christmas message to members worldwide

Intellectual Reserve, Inc."Journey of the Magi," by James Tissot.

Like the Wise Men, who sought the Christ child and offered Him gifts, we too should seek Jesus and lay before Him our most precious gifts — a broken heart and a contrite spirit, our love, and our willingness to take upon ourselves His name and walk the path of discipleship.

"As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ this Christmas, we think of that sacred time when “The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6) came to earth as a newborn babe. Like the Wise Men, who sought the Christ child and offered Him gifts, we too should seek Jesus and lay before Him our most precious gifts — a broken heart and a contrite spirit, our love, and our willingness to take upon ourselves His name and walk the path of discipleship.
“I am the light of the world,” the Savior declared during His mortal ministry, and “he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12). We follow Him as we remember Him always, emulate His example, and go about doing good.
At this Christmas season, may our faith be strengthened as we follow Jesus Christ. Truly, He is our Savior and Redeemer, who was “wounded for our transgressions, ... and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). We solemnly testify that He lives and that because of His love and atoning sacrifice, He offers the gift of salvation to all of God’s children.

The Church’s first Regional Face to Face will feature Elder D. Todd Christofferson and his wife, Kathy, on December 10, 2016. The event in Guatemala will be broadcast throughout the region in Spanish and Portuguese only.

Youth are invited to prayerfully ponder what questions they might have for Elder and Sister Christofferson and submit them on the event page anytime before or during the event. Then plan to watch on the home page or at caraAcara.lds.org.
